Court Marriage
A court marriage in India is solemnised as per the Special Marriage Act, 1954. The marriage registration is conditional to the provisional of the Act and a marriage certificate is issued by the Marriage Officer in presence of three witnesses.
Court marriage means that the marriage between a male and female are performed according to the law irrespective of their caste, religion or creed. When two people opt to get married in the court, there is no need to perform the marriage rituals according to their religion.
How does registration of court marriage take place?
- An Affidavit must be attested by Magistrate/S.D.M. or Notary Public with Register Entry No.
- Application form in the prescribed format.
- Age Proof: Voter I-Card, Driving License or Matriculation Certificate.
- Residence Proof: Voter I-Card, Driving License, Matriculation Certificate, or Passport.
- 7 Passport size photographs of the bride & the groom.
- PAN Cards and the Residential Proofs of the three witnesses.
- In case of divorcees, a Certified copy of Decree of Divorce granted by the Court.
- In case of death of the last spouse, a death certificate is required.
- For foreigners, No Impediment Certificate / NOC from concerned Embassy and Valid VISA required.
